Srinagar, June 13 – Security forces succeeded in suppressing militants in Kashmir Valley. Two militants were killed in a gunfight with joint forces of Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Machhil sector of Kupwara district on Tuesday.

According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police (Kashmir Zone), an infiltration attempt from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir across the Line of Control (LoC) has failed in the operation of joint forces in Dobanar area. According to police sources, joint forces have started a cordon and search operation by surrounding the area.

Ahead of the G20 meeting in Srinagar last month, Pakistan-backed militant groups had been carrying out a series of attacks in the valley. Apart from known militant groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, various ‘unknown’ terrorist groups called ‘People’s Anti-Fascist Front’ (PAFF), ‘Kashmir Freedom Fighters’ also issued statements claiming credit for the attack. After a break of a few weeks, fresh terror started in the valley.
